Date Night Jar

Many years ago I was involved in a women’s ministry group .  One of the projects we made for the women were these cute containers to collect spare change to encourage saving money for a date.  Amazing how fast a little money can add up to provide fun without breaking the bank.

This project was made with a canning mason jar.  The jar and lid were painted with a burgundy acrylic paint (a few layers will be needed).  The cute tag was made by typing the saying and printing out on the computer.  Then cut the saying into a rectangle shape and adhere to a colored piece of card stock cut a little larger than the wording.  Wrap a piece of ribbon material of your choice around top of jar.  An easier version can be made by skipping the painting and just go for the tag and ribbon.

Keep this container out where it is visible so you will remember where that spare change needs to go and why.  If you have children it is a great way for children to see that mommy and daddy believe it is important to spend time with each other and it’s worth saving for.

Note – Looking for a fun gift to give for friends and family – canning jars usually come in containers of 12 and can be purchased at hardware stores and grocery stores.
