Organization – Kitchen – Baking Center

There are food items in the kitchen that are like members of a family and need to be stored together.  Baking ingredients are such items.  The investment of storage containers and labels to protect your product ingredients and increase the efficiency of the task at hand is so worth it.  So here is to no more frustration spending 10 minutes searching for an ingredient or find that you don’t even have it. 

1.  Allocate an area in your kitchen or a portion of the pantry for your baking needs.

2.  Pull your baking ingredients (flours, sugars, baking powder, baking soda, cornstarch, etc.) onto the counter.  Ascertain if there are any items you don’t see – create a list so you can continue to enhance this area.

3.  Buy some airtight containers – Glad Plasticware or Rubbermaid will work.  Utilize what you may have on hand.  Make a list of the items still needing storage, create a list and go to the store.

4.  Once you have everything that needs a storage container (cocoa, baking powder, etc. can be kept in their containers), use stickers and label.  I recently discovered these food storage labels from Pampered Chef and love them.  They are easy to write on and peel off if repositioning is necessary.
