Surrender

Some things are just too big to continue to carry – whether it be an ache for what is or what isn’t.

Cross

To surrender doesn’t mean we give up.   Letting go is an active admission that we  can no longer  manage what we are attempting to carry on our own.  It is the cry of the heart for help.  It is tightly clenched hands releasing the causes of weariness and concern and  placing those burdens in the hands that created the oceans from nothing.

Surrendering can be a bit of a wrestling match but it brings back the ability to breathe – to take the next step forward – to not become stuck and ultimately brings rest.  It’s not a one-time decision – it is one that continually asks “Who are you going to trust in this moment, hour, day, etc.  It enables us to become who we were created to be and it acknowledges that we are dependent on God to guide our steps and rely upon his provision to manage the situation.

May we with hearts of gratitude remember that Jesus surrendered to the cross because of His great love for us.   He is in charge of everything and although our human minds would like to convince us otherwise He has the  final word.  He can be trusted with what we need to surrender.

“Are you tired? Worn out? Burned out on religion? Come to me. Get away with me and you’ll recover your life. I’ll show you how to take a real rest.”  Matthew 11:28 – The Message

What does surrender mean to you?

  1. It should be the easiest advice to take in the world, but sometimes we’re too stubborn to let it be, or I should say I am. Always working on it. I loved your post and the pic that you put up with it.
